Jerry Meltreger has served as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO)* member on the Jamboree board since 2012. Currently, he holds the position of Board Treasurer and serves on the Audit, Resident Services and Tax Committees.
Born in Chicago, Ill, Jerry Meltreger received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Loyola University, Chicago and then became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He worked for five years in the Chicago office of Ernst & Ernst before becoming the Controller of Vance Publishing Company.
Jerry eventually moved west for warmer weather, sunshine, and for the position as Controller with the Rossmoor Corporation. He went on to work for National City Mortgage where he stayed until his retirement in 2007. Jerry and his wife are residents of The Meadows, Jamboree’s five-star mobile home park for active seniors, where Jerry serves as the Treasurer of the Home Owner’s Association (HOA).
*Jamboree is a Community Housing Development Organization (“CHDO”) and has board members who meet the criteria to participate on the Jamboree board as its designated CHDO participants. A CHDO (pronounced cho’do) is a private nonprofit, community-based service organization whose primary purpose is to provide and develop decent, affordable housing for the community it serves and is eligible to receive funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s HOME program.
